Dear Friends,

Tashi Delek!

I hope this message finds you all in very good health and happy. I want to update you with the Nepal earthquake relief project that many of you have contributed to with your generosity to Emaho Foundation. We have sent around 1 million Nepali Rupees (10,000 US $) from Emaho Foundation and one-quarter million NPR (30,0000 Japanese Yen) from Japan.

Pema Kenrab in Kathmandu, Nepal, is our coordinator with this project. He is one of my students from the Drepung Monastery. I asked him to gather a volunteer group and create the Emaho Foundation Care Team.

In the confusion following the aftermath of such widespread destruction, I wanted to be certain your generous donations go into the most remote, hardest hit areas, to those receiving no help.

The Emaho Care Team first did a thorough fact-finding mission on the ground. The aftershocks not only kept people fearful and in shock, but they further eroded already damaged structures, while roads giving access to these remote areas were washed away by slides and mud from early rains.

Our team found remote villages in dire need. In one village of 150 homes, dozens of people had died, many were injured, and all but two homes were entirely flattened. The people were in need of makeshift shelters to keep them from the elements: the monsoons are coming soon. In another village some structures remained standing but this area had run completely out of stored food, their crops ruined.

The Emaho Care Team made their assessment, drew up a plan and set out to help their Nepalese brothers and sisters in most need. Where shelter was needed the team gave out supplies from which to make shelter, where there was no food, the team gave sustainable food items.

It is with my heartfelt appreciation to all of you for your kindness to reach out to help these people going through such pain and suffering. Hundreds of women, men and children who received your kindness are expressing their gratitude and sending their prayers to all of you.

Blessings and prayers,

ZaChoeje Rinpoche
